Code of Ethics

NAARPI Code of Ethics.

(a)    NAARPI Residential Rental inspectors shall exhibit honesty and integrity in furtherance of the honor of the Residential Rental Inspection and Property Management Industry.  NAARPI certified inspectors have a direct and vital impact on the quality of life for all tenants, as well they are the eyes and ears for the property management companies and owners they represent.  NAARPI inspectors shall adhere to the highest principles of ethical conduct when performing inspections and take all necessary steps to note and document concerns that will protect and safe guard all parties (tenant, owner, investor, and property management companies).  

(b)   This Code of Ethics reflects the current ethical standards for NAARPI Residential Rental inspectors.  It is NAARPI’s intention that this document be a living document and that changes and updates to this Code of Ethics as well as the Standards of Practice be made as deemed necessary by this department in consultation with the NAARPI Council and or its members.

(c)   NAARPI inspectors shall not participate or conduct professional home inspections on any property that has become part of a sale or purchase. NAARPI members be they inspector or property manager will never use a NAARPI residential rental inspection to advise a potential buyer or seller or represent it as such. 

(d)   NAARPI Certified inspectors will abide by state and local laws with regards to laws and regulations regarding licensing of Professional Home Inspectors.  In those states or territories that have not made provisions to regulate professional home inspectors, NAARPI members must obtain a higher degree of certification prior to conducting inspections of that nature.  NAARPI certified inspectors will not link or connect the NAARPI organization or any of its Affiliates to any inspection performed outside of the NAARPI Standards of Practice.   

(e)  NAARPI certified inspectors shall be required to cooperate with investigations by the governing bodies in the State and Territory they reside.   Inspectors shall be obligated, on request of the State, NAARPI, and the Property Management company or client they represent, to provide information with regards to any inspection they performed.  They further acknowledge that the inspection is the sole property of the client and it is a highly confidential and legal document not to be shared.

(f)    NAARPI certified inspectors shall never alter, change, omit or attempt to modify any report once submitted.  NAARPI inspectors agree to supply such information as may be required concerning his, her or its business, business practices or business methods, or proposed business practices or methods.
